Bath salts ban prompts sweep of stores

Pitt County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday seized bath salts and spice on the first day of a new state law banning the substances, a spokeswoman said.

Deputies visited about 15 convenience stores and tobacco shops across Pitt County.

The enforcement action, aimed at educating shop owners, netted about 600 packets worth about $10,000, spokeswoman Christy Wallace said. No arrests were made.
