Synthetic Drugs Seized After Ban Went Into Effect

MORGANTON, N.C. — Synthetic drugs were seized from several convenience stores in Burke County after legislation banning them went into effect.As of Wednesday, it is illegal in North Carolina to sell, manufacture or possess synthetic forms of marijuana or cocaine, also known as spice and bath salts.Under the new law, ingredients in bath salts are Schedule I controlled substances, meaning they have a high potential for abuse. Spice chemicals are classified as having a low potential for abuse.
