Doctors say synthetic marijuana, K2, has lasting effects

WICHITA, Kan. — Doctors have seen a spike in the number of people having bad reactions to synthetic marijuana, or K2. It’s sometimes known on the streets as Spice, Black Mamba, Bliss or Bombay Blue.

“We’re talking about a drug that’s 500 to 1,000 times more potent than marijuana,” said Via Christi Psychiatrist Dr. Moneeshindra Mittal.

Dr. Mittal has seen 25 patients who have overdosed on K2 in the last 3 months alone. He says what is really frightening, is that the synthetic marijuana is leaving lasting effects.
